Starting A Fund

The Foundation will draft a letter specific to your intent including the following information:

  • The name of the proposed Fund
  • How the income is to be used (charitable purposes of fund)
  • Whether it is to be an open or closed fund.

We will ask you to review the letter, amend it, if required, and return it with your signature.

Using this information, we draw up a Deed of Gift (a trust document setting out details of the fund) for you and have it reviewed by the Foundation Board. We encourage you to discuss the deed with your Legal Advisor to ensure the deed of gift's contents correspond to your original intent.

Once you are sure the Deed of Gift is acceptable, it should be signed and returned to the Kamloops Foundation with a cheque for (minimum) $5,000. If you are unable or prefer not to contribute $5,000 at one time, the Foundation is prepared to work with you on a suitable gifting schedule. The Board of the Foundation then approves the deed of gift and the fund begins working for the betterment of the community.
